Pharm. (Mrs.) Olajumoke Adelarin Longe FPCPharm, was a shining star in our lives. She embarked on her heavenly journey on the 12th of November 2024, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched and leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on the 1st of October 1965, Olajumoke graced the world with her warmth, intelligence, and compassion.
A highly accomplished Deputy Director and Consultant Pharmacist at the University College Hospital (UCH) Nigeria, Olajumoke was not only a professional of great repute but also a beacon of inspiration to all who knew her. Her wisdom, compassion, and tireless dedication to her work and family impacted countless lives. She was a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy. She attended St. Bernadette Private School in Abeokuta for her primary education and proceeded to Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode for her secondary education. She later attended the University of Ibadan, where she earned a degree in Pharmacy. Driven by her quest for knowledge and professional growth, she pursued numerous professional training programs and courses.
Olajumoke joined the Pharmacy Department of the University College Hospital (UCH) on April 11, 1994, as a Grade 1 Pharmacist after a brief stint in Community Pharmacy Practice. She worked in various units of the department (both In and Out Patients) and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director of Pharmaceutical Services. She served diligently as the head of many units of the department at various times, including the General Outpatient Pharmacy, Medical Outpatient Pharmacy, Emergency Pharmacy, Private Suite Pharmacy, First Floor Pharmacy, Satellite, and Central Pharmacy Stores. She was actively involved in the training of numerous intern pharmacists and pharmacy students. As a Consultant Pharmacist on Special Grade II, she served as the Lead Pharmacist in the Open Heart Surgery team of UCH.
A well-rounded pharmacist, Olajumoke was a dedicated member of various professional bodies, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs), and the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes, and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI). Olajumoke was celebrated not only for her expertise but also for her role as a source of inspiration to colleagues, her church community, friends, and family. Her wisdom, compassion, and tireless dedication to her work and loved ones left an indelible mark on countless lives.
